What People's Say About Place

My wife and I shared a 4 oz lobster tail and prime rib, with a side of mashed potatoes and a salad. The salad was fresh and tasty, and the mashed potatoes were well done. The bread they served was also good, as was the prime rib and the lobster tail. We also had a mango margarita, which were on special two for one. Was very tasty, but had a lot of ice in it and was not very strong. Our waitress, Heather, took care of us expeditiously. Upon arriving at Captain John's, an individual was standing outside the door claiming to be Captain John. He also said that he was 101 years old. He added a lot of charm to the place. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Inside, is a traditional nautical theme. Each booth had the name of a famous ship in the past. We sat in a booth called the Yankee clipper. The men's restroom was small but clean.

The staff here was incredibly accommodating. We had a larger party and they did an amazing job putting up with our large groups antics and staying on top of all our meals and apps. The food was really good and the margaritas are well made. Definitely worth the visit!

We had never been here, despite living a few cities over. As soon as we walked in we were delightfully greeted by pirates!!! The atmosphere was super cool. Food was really good. The clams and clam chowder take the cake. Margaritas for the win!

First time here! The decor is so neat and with all of it everything is so unbelievably clean and free from dust, I was amazed! The entire staff was very welcoming. Our server Heather was great! Interacted with our three children and was very attentive making sure we had everything we needed! The food was just as amazing..I was hesitant to order the lobster Mac n cheese with the price but did anyway and it did not disappoint! The cheese was so fresh and creamy and it was topped with an entire lobster tail as well as a large amount mixed in! My husband’s NY Strip was cooked perfectly and tasted great! All of the fried food ordered (chicken tenders, fries, calamari and mozzarella sticks) were great..fresh oil for sure! We will definitely be back to this gem!

I come up to Sylvan every July and decided to try Captain John’s. I was not disappointed. Food was fantastic and Kathy our waitress was great…friendly and a great smile .

Food was very good. Steak and prime rib were cooked perfectly. The dessert was delicious!Only issue was with dining room space. The isle space was so cramped that the staff as on top of each other trying to get around the dining room. There was no room for more than one person going one way.

Best food I've ever had in my life! Unbelievable the generous amount of incredibly delicious food that was on our plates. The server, Laura, was super sweet and efficient & made helpful suggestions. The owner came out to our table to say hi & was so funny and kind. Cannot wait to go back again!

Nice tropical atmosphere, good service. Clans were good. Shrimp were very tasty. Her salad was good although light on the chicken. My side of broccoli was all stems & the spinach with my shrimp was sparse. Cannoli was ok.
